Play "Rub-A-Dub Tub-Tub Eddie", a very silly bath time game! Gertie-cat, or more formally, Lady Gertrude Dainty Paws, is a lovely, very affectionate, female. She is fond of purring herself into a stupor. A genuine lap kitty extrordinare, Gertie often sits in CHU's lap while on the computer creating many things for ClydeSight2.0! She likes to help. This is why almost nothing gets done. It's not her fault, but eventually, she will have to learn to stop pressing the DELETE key on the computer! Note that she has a white tip on her tail. This is one of the few ways to tell her apart from her brother. As you can see, the Spirit of Clyde is not lost on her, and she has begun to show some mewsical development. Sitting on the synthesizer is a start. (Gertie's composition, The Kitten, is in the Gert and Eddie Contest Pages) Sir Edward Pussycat, or Eddie for short, is a polydactyl (yep, just like Clyde! Could the Spirit of Clyde be at work in him? ) and a highly athletic and energetic kitten. Twin to Gertrude, he is affectionate and loving, though not as much a lapper as Gert. But she is teaching him an important lesson, to wit, "If you sit in a corner and act aloof, you get ignored." Perhaps this is just a phase he is going through. Eddie is a handsome cat, and though his purr is not as loud as Gert's, he is a "rubber". Yep, he likes to rub and rub against any part of you that he can get near. He also has a trick. He bites water dripping from the faucet. He also likes to drink water from a glass, if his face doesn't get stuck in it! He is very fond of fruit juice. Go figure, huh? Family Values. The family that sleeps together is usually caught napping. Here, Gert rests her head on Eddie's back. As you can see, he has more spots than stripes, another important clue in telling them apart. In the dark, this distinction is useless. Being the close companions they are, Gert and Eddie play together a lot. Of course, as with all children, there are the occasional fights over toys. Being members of ClydeSight2.0!, they have been showered with presents and toys so there are plenty to go around. But, "the grass is always greener on the other side", so whatever Gertie has, Eddie wants, and vice-versa. The chair, however, is one toy they can share together with no problem. That's because it is green on both sides. At the moment, they are both on top of the chair, limiting its play value. But, usually, one of them gets underneath and "strikes" from below. Eddie is particularly fond of chasing Gertie's tail. By the way, this chair was Clyde's favorite. They discovered it almost immediately, and it is not unusual to find Eddie napping there. Gertrude and Eddie came from a shelter in Massachusetts. They knew that Gert and Eddie needed to go to a good home where they would be loved and adored (well, Gert and Eddie expected that anyway). Both were raised from birth in the care and love of humans; they stayed for a while in the gentle care of the local shelter and they are completely trusting and affectionate. They have never learned fear. To them, as with the three little maids from school in the opera, The Mikado, "Life is a joke that's just begun!" After hearing the sad tail of Clyde, the counselors at the shelter were convinced that ClydeSight2.0! was the place for them. The folks say they knew CHU would be good for them when CHU said, "I need to meet them, of course, and they must like me. Otherwise, no matter how much I love them, they won't be happy." When CHU went to interview with Eddie and Gert, there was no question of the match. Gert crawled into CHU's lap and purred, and Eddie climbed into CHU's raincoat. Though they will never replace Clyde (who was wonderful and unique), Gert and Eddie have been remarkably influenced by his spirit, and have brought, and continue to bring, joy to CHU. As little kitty angels, they are healing the wounds of Clyde's loss in CHU, and ClydeSight2.0! is a happy place once more. Gert & Eddie are Members of "Bad Kitties Anonymouse"
