Best of the Net
Visit the Mining Co. Cats page.
The Mining Co. (now-1999-About.com) is a collection of special sites on many topics that are designed to give surfers a great Internet experience. It's almost like a mini-Internet on the Internet! These pages are extremely well designed and managed by a group of "Guides" who will take you through the various sections of this website. It is really great, nicely cohesive and very well designed. Clyde is very impressed.
Clyde was greatly honored to receive this award from one of the Cat sections of the Mining Company's site. Here is the review:
"I don't usually go in much for technological do-dads, or games. I look for pretty kitties and information when I surf the cat sites on the 'net. ClydeSight2.0! Home Page is an exception. Not only does it have games and gizmos, but it even has virtual reality. Clyde Big Paws, Feline Unit 236.8v2 (but, you can call him Clyde), is a cat who, when he isn't composing music for his big concert or programming computers, travels around history meeting a lot of famous people. Among his adventures is becoming King of England, and providing Thomas Edison with the filament that made the electric light work.This site is totally absurd, loads of fun, and a real masterpiece. Clyde is a handsome kitty too! And, don't miss the concert!"-- B.E.

Bret awards ClydeSight2.0! his first ever award!
Bret, sacred cat of Burma, has begun an awards program. He chose for his ClydeSight2.0! as his first award recipient! We are so honored!
Here is what B.E. (Bret's human friend) had to say about the award:
"Some time ago, I was the Cats Guide for a start-up company called The Mining Co. One of the duties of the Guide was to search the Web for interesting and useful sites in our subject matter area. In addition, we were allowed to select a very few for a 'Best of the Net' award.
One day, I was diligently searching, and following links blindly just to see where they went, when I stumbled across this page with all kinds of technological tricks and games. Now, that wasn't particuarly what I was looking for, but I went through the pages anyway, and found the site funny, charming, absurd, and certainly among the best of the cat sites on the Web. This was my introduction to Clyde. ClydeSight was awarded one of my very first 'Best of the Net' awards, and still proudly displays the button.
Since that time, I have revisited ClydeSight many times. I never changed my opinion that award was merited, and until I left, what was then About.com, kept the 'Best of the Net' designation active for the site.
My successor as Cats Guide has also given ClydeSight awards, as have several others from The Mining Co., and About.com. Some time has passed since that award. I am no longer the Cats Guide. The Mining Co. has become About.com. Clyde has gone on to his reward at the Rainbow Bridge. We have met Eddie and Gertie. And ClydeSight, now ClydeSight 2.0!, still ranks among the top sites on the Web, cat related or otherwise.
When I decided to establish an awards program at Birman-Sacred Cat of Burma, I looked up one of my favorite sites, and found I would still give that site one of those 'Best of the Net' awards if I were still Cats Guide.
So, it seems appropriate ClydeSight 2.0! should be the very first recipient of my new Bret's Best award.
