Indoor Render 1 - Artificial Lighting

Indoor lighting provides some opportunities and challenges. This image uses the same lights on Robby as the outdoor renders, but they have reduced intensity and use a Ranged falloff. Because this is a scene of a room, I have added some room lights to make sense of the scene. An interior scene can also take advantage of the room object's refraction to artificially create shadows in corners and further modify light falloff. Notice that the highly reflective surface of Robby's dome is picking up the grid of the ceiling. The position of the sun, although it is external to the room, does have an influence on light density, giving another means of apply subtle light control to the image.

This room is modeled after a typical retro "rec room" (or would that be "wreck room") with really bad wall paneling but a nice cushy sofa and the tacky drop ceiling. Maybe Robby should stick to making dresses for Alta? (If you're not a "Forbidden Planet" fan, you won't get that joke. Rent the movie-- you'll figure it out.)
