As you can see in this rendering, Robby's body color is better modified by the use of artificial lighting. I used a night scene to better show the effects. If you were to do this in daylight, you simply have to increase the Intensity values of the spherical lights. Remember that in outdoor scenes, using a LINEAR falloff method will be most effective and reduce "hotspots".
The reflection of Robby's material is helping the light blending effects. The secret here is to scatter the lights to prevent "light wash" that would occur if all the lights were at the same up and down levels. Also, different color tints on the lights will help give the image interest and will give Robby a nicer "glow" than he would have if pure white was used.
TIP: If you used pure RED, GREEN and BLUE lights (100% color value), the point where all three intersect will result in WHITE!
However, artificial lights will affect ALL the materials used in the Robby model, so you will have to adjust some of these (the valves, the power coils, etc.) and render until you get the look you want. Usually, you have to reduce the value for Diffusion and Ambience,
This scene also avoids the "horizon effect" in the material's reflection by simply turning off the atmospheric effects in the Sky Lab.
