According to scientists and animal behaviorists, cats are supposed to sleep for 16 hours a day.

Apparently, Clyde never read the reports. Though he was certainly fond of naps, he was an energetic little kitty, and his computer studies demanded his attention more than his dreams.

Although Clyde was napping every day when C.H.U., (Clyde's Human Unit) went to work to earn money to buy cat treats, he often woke up shortly thereafter and went to work at the computer. It seems that Clyde was fascinated by the process of time-dating files. Ever since his printer driver discovered a way of scattering 34 "printing in process" icons all over his desktop (even though the printer wasn't hooked up), Clyde must have been pursuing the elusive technique of creating "surprise" files.

So, it was an amazing discovery when a folder, called the Clyde Codex, appeared on the computer desktop of C.H.U. in November, four months AFTER Clyde crossed the Rainbow Bridge!

Could the kitty have returned from beyond, now in possession of the computer system files? Was his spirit trapped in the Internet, and had somehow gotten locked in the Internet browser? Would the printer driver ever tire of cloning multiple "printing in process" icons?

The answer to these, and some other intriguing questions is: Who Knows?

But, what is now known, from this amazing digital discovery, is that Clyde was one busy kitty!

Here is what was written in the all-important READ ME file that came included in the Clyde Codex folder that appeared on C.H.U.'s desktop (NOTE: this information only applies to C.H.U., and is provided to help you understand what is going on here!):

"If you are reading this file, then Clyde Codex has gone active, and you have received the first of many data files necessary for the progress and growth of ClydeSight2.0!

These invisible files and folders have been hidden within the tracks of the main drive, with time-date stamps to issue their release at the appropriate time. Do not attempt to purge them from the system unless you have made a back-up!

The magnificent Clyde Adventures transcend time itself, and a collection of records has been digitized, along with the all important MIDI Clyde Tune files, into this system of programs called Clyde Codex.

At the appropriate time, Clyde Codex will release new data for posting in ClydeSight2.0! on the Internet.

You will, of course, drop everything and post them as required and according to the instructions provided.

After the first of the Clyde Codex files is released onto the Internet, the program will become self-maintaining. Clyde Codex will continue to release new data to the C.H.U. desktop at the appropriate times. Look for new, and unintentional icons on your desktop. Do not purge them unless the printer driver has gone "clone mad" and cluttered the desktop with those annoying "printing in process" icons.

C.B.P."

This, of course, explains the astronomical electrical bills that C.H.U. began to receive during the early summer. At least that mystery has been solved. But many new ones take its place:

What strange and fascinating things had Clyde dreamed up (so to speak--since he wasn't asleep when he created the files) for his fans on the Internet?

What is contained in the peculiar, "Happy Birthday" Time Travel Clyde adventure that took place in the 18th Century, and just whose birthday did Clyde feel was important enough to celebrate (other than his own)?

How many Clyde Codex files will appear on C.H.U.'s desktop?

Will the printer driver ever stop making those "Printing in Process" icons?

Only time will tell, and only true Clyde fans will ever know, as, in the months and years to come, these enigmatic little cat programs reveal themselves.

Clyde's inspiration is eternal. Hopefully, so is C.H.U.'s disk drive.
