Letters from Clyde's Friends - Page 5

Smokey, Tucker and Jason Flowers

Dear Guests, Visiting Humans, and Beloved Queen Midnight,

We miss Clyde. We all do. But we want to say why he was so special to us. When we were new to the Internet, we were lost and bewildered. Where to go - what to do- we didn't have a clue. A friend suggested we do a search for a topic that interested us. We entered "cats." Wow! We got hundreds of matches. By some stroke of luck, Clyde's page was one of the very first we found. We visited Clyde every chance we got. If not for Clyde, we never would have joined CLAW. We wrote to him with our problems and questions. He was unfailingly courteous, and generous with his knowledge. He was our unofficial Guide to the Internet. He didn't ask for the job, but he could never say "no" to us when we begged him for help. We were so proud to have him for our friend!

When Clyde began the Computer Users Support Group at CLAW, we were some of the first kitties signed up. At last we could pester him with the sanction of the Club! We had such problems with our browser. Clyde was our inspiration to learn how to surf the web, and to enjoy all that it has to offer. Whenever we visited Clyde's homepage, we would see all the notices about the music that was playing. We could never hear the music! This was so frustrating, and it went on for months. We tried everything, with Clyde's help. We got Crescendo. We got Navigator. We got Midigate. We got this. We got that. Nothing worked. Clyde tried so hard to help!! When his concert at CLAW opened, we were in agony. We still couldn't hear the music! We went into overdrive in our efforts.

Finally, one day, it worked. We heard Clyde's concert! It was a dream come true. We enjoyed it all the more because of how long we had waited. We wrote immediately to Clyde, of course. His joyous response to us was our last note from him.

Then our humans went on vacation, and we couldn't turn the pooter on. When Meowmie got back, first stop was CLAW to see what was going on. We saw the notice that Clyde was very sick. We sent a card, not realizing that he was already on his way across the Bridge. But Meowmie already "knew" something was terribly wrong. She couldn't connect to Clyde's site, for the first time ever. She had a terrible fear of what had happened. When we finally were able to connect, we got the terrible news. We were all devastated - Meowmie cried the hardest of all of us. What a world we live in - that kitties who live all around the world can become so close, like a big family. It's wonderful that we can all get to know each other so well.

We finally completed our own home page. This should have been the happiest week of our lives. But the occasion was not so happy after all. We were just so disheartened that Clyde would never see it. Then we realized - of course Clyde can see it - from across the Bridge, where he is free from all fear and pain.

We will never forget our friend Clyde. There will never be another cat like him. We are proud that we had the great pleasure of knowing him. We look forward to seeing him again - over the Rainbow Bridge.
