You fell for a Trick-Click Clyde GIF! (Try to say that three times fast!)
Clyde is a playful cat (tricky little beast). But, he wants to stay friends with
you, so below his picture, he offers some interesting FAQts about his furry little
face.
Clyde FAQ:
Does Clyde show facial expressions, and if so, what do they
mean?
Clyde's Response:
Mew, purr, snort.
Translation:
Clyde definitely has a personality and shows it in his face.
Here are some examples:
- Squinting Eyes ("Kitty Winks"): A form of recognition
and friendship, similar to a handshake. Clyde will often return a wink
from a person or another cat.
- Curled Whiskers: Clyde is happy and content. Everything is fine.
- Ears Laid Back: Anger or annoyance, sometimes alertness. Clyde
also rotates his ears to better hear different sounds (such as traffic
passing on the street or a refrigerator door being opened).
- Wide Eyes, Ears Straight Up: Attention, interest, curiosity,
excitement, eagerness.
- Frown (ears lowered, eyes partially closed): Annoyance, irritation,
sometimes concentration.
- Slightly Open Mouth, Lips Curled, Front Teeth Showing (sometimes
confused with snarling, or a grimace, called "flehming"-- no
kidding): Clyde does this to use his "Jacobson's organ", a special
scent receptor in the roof of his mouth. He is curious and checking out
the aroma of something interesting.
- Eyes Half-Closed: Clyde is very relaxed and soon will take a
nap.
In the big picture above, Clyde is showing a smirk. He will
soon bolt out of the room with his tail up and curled at the tip, in a "come
chase me" game.
