There was a great deal of progress in Elizabethan England!
Queen Elizabeth I did parade around England
in a PR campaign that was called "progresses".
(This was very clearly explained by the genius,
James Burke, in the television program, "Connections".)
They were very popular, with much celebration and music.
That's where the nursery rhyme comes from.
The progresses made her accessible to the people and she became a greatly
loved monarch
because everyone truly believed that she cared for the welfare of the country.
In fact, she did.
England, under Elizabeth's reign prospered and was never invaded.
However, the Spanish did try to invade England
with fleet of warships called "The Great Armada", and it did sink,
but not in Madrid. It sank during a storm in the English Channel.
Clyde was not involved.
Gosh, that's too bad, 'cause you know what happens next.
Yes, intrepid (if not overly knowledgable about Elizabethan Progresses)
follower of Clyde, you must return to the Time Vortex.
Just click on Clyde to get there. Then, try another alternative.
Good luck.
