Thomas Edison actually did say to his new invention, the phonograph:
Mary had a little lamb,
it's fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
the lamb was sure to go.
Exactly why he chose to make this less than profound statement is not known.
This curious recording is preserved,
and you can still hear it today, even on the Internet.
Clyde bets Edison never thought of that!
One would have thought he'd say
"Testing, testing, 1,2,3,4. Is this thing working?"

An early "walkman"?
