Days of Clyde's Lives

Day of Sun, Night of the Shaman
8/2/97--evening

Day Four--evening The Clyde Saga, Health Returning!

I think I can sympathize with yo-yo's. All that up and down.(Or, is that elevators?)

After our very rocky start this morning, and the terror of the trauma of coming home, Clyde and I are settling down.

After I posted my last update, you guys must have done something, because the Sun itself went to work on him.

Clyde lay in the sunny porch window, and after a little bout of crying (by both of us), he fell asleep. "Thumper", his Rainbow Angel, whispered in my ear, "Now might be a good time to try his treatment again."

So, I hooked up the equipment in the window (a kind of subcutaneous IV thing) and, after stabbing myself (don't tell the Vet how clumsy I am!), got a clean needle and was able to "do the deed" for Clyde. He got a little uncomfortable toward the end, but he did get what was needed.

He spent the afternoon sleeping in the window, and I tried to get some Internet work done. (I am still trying to get all your wonderful letters and prayers up on this website.) But he cried when I left him, so I spent the warm sunny afternoon on the porch with him, and he slept peacefully and calmly, and even did a bit of washing up.

Tonight the wonderful Shaman came to do some healing. Clyde was totally cooperative and at the end of our prayer service and ministry with him, he purred with that incredible loud rumble that says, "Cool!" He looked ever so much better. I think the time this wonderful Shaman spent with him did as much to heal him (if not more) as all the work the Vet has done.

As part of our service, we got on the Net so I could show her the boundless love and affection you have all sent to Clyde. We visited many of your sites, and I choked up at what devotion and kindness you show. Then we visited the Rainbow Angel. When we were visiting the Rainbow Angel page, Clyde came into the room and mewed. I held him in my lap and said "Look Clyde, that's Thumper holding you." He stared at the screen!

Then he let the Shaman hold him and read to him about the Angel. Now, this "lap activity" is very unusual for Clyde, so I take it as a good sign.

I also discovered that the Rainbow Angel is something that is on many of the cat sites on the Net. I don't know who came up with it, but whoever you are, please forgive me if I 'ripped you off.' That wasn't my intention at all. I hope you will look on it as a sort of companionship in spirit.

I have not been able to answer all of your letters individually as I would like, but please know that I read every single one of them, and go to the sites you tell me about, and then report it all to Clyde. Please accept these updates as my way of replying until I can get to all of you? Over 100 friends have responded to Clyde's needs, and we are both so grateful to you all.

It is getting time for another treatment for Clyde. Hopefully, I won't stab myself again!

There is a tremendous lesson I am learning from all this, and that is the power of love and friendship. Thanks you all for being there for Clyde. He's got a little time-travel game thing he's cooking up to amuse you, which I'll get to you as soon as I can.

In closing for tonight (may it be a safe and peaceful one for all) I want to share something one of you sent to Clyde, written by Buddha:

Part of the Discourse on Good Will by Buddha

May all being everywhere be filled with joy and peace.

Let no one deceive another,
Let no one anywhere despise another.
Let no one out of anger or resentment
Wish suffering on anyone at all.

Just as a mother with her own life
Protects her child, her only child, from harm,
So within yourself let grow
A boundless love for all creatures.

Let your love flow outward through the universe,
To its height, its depth, its broad extent,
A limitless love, without hatred or enmity.

Then, as you stand or walk,
Sit or lie down,
As long as you are awake,
Strive for this with a one-pointed mind;
Your life will bring heaven to earth.

I am learning what all this means.

Goodnight to all. Hopefully, this soap opera will end soon and we can get back to some funny stuff!
